Who We Are
The Black and Brown Policy network is a network of Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and other groups of the people’s/ global majority who have shared experiences of colonization, enslavement, imperialism, land removal, and other atrocities. Together, we work to create equity, political infrastructure, and move advocacy through the lens of political policy work. The network was created to honor the need to create alignment strategies amongst people of color in a way that was not being seen within North Carolina groups.

About the North Carolina
Black & Brown Policy Network
The North Carolina Black and Brown Policy Network (BBPN) was formed to address the need for change and equality for directly impacted people crying out for justice in the face of a COVID-19 global pandemic. Today, our network speaks out in solidarity against a created construct of racism in all of its forms and its deadly consequences. As a network, we stand in alignment with all Black and Brown-led groups and organizations.
Our collective survival depends on creating, implementing, and supporting equitable immediate, a holistic policy that supports the well-being of our communities and our state. At the core, we transform the state of the North Carolina Legislature and hold elected officials accountable to those they serve. We recognize that our current system is no longer feasible or beneficial to those in the greatest need, specifically Black, Brown, Immigrant, and low-income communities. We must proactively seek an updated system that will normalize constituents informing our policy.
