OUR health & free speech are under attack! Act NOW to protect OUR rights!

House Bill 237, the anti-protest, anti-mask bill, wants to silence OUR voice and right to protest and open the floodgates for BIG MONEY to give unlimited amounts in our state elections. The First Amendment guarantees both free speech and freedom of assembly and helps address gaps in other rights. As OUR rights have increasingly come under attack, many people see that protest is the only way that they can be heard. 

We need to act NOW! 

We can’t let lawmakers ram through a bill that prohibits people from wearing an ordinary mask to protect their health but would permit millionaires to hide in secret and flood the state with unhealthy money!

Here’s some of what the bill would do:

• Increase penalties for protesters who block traffic and for masked protesters who break any law. 
• Retains provisions that would allow “organizers” (undefined in the language) of street protests to be held broadly liable in civil lawsuits for any injury resulting from delays caused by the obstruction of an emergency vehicle.
• Guts the health and safety exception to NC’s mask ban and allows for the authority of law enforcement and third parties (public or private property owners) to require mask removal for any reason, at any time, for any duration of time, which is NOT how the current law stands.
• Creates a money laundering scheme from wealthy interests to federal committees to the council of state races.
